Programmer - Corporate Instructor - Business Partner - Home School Mom - Workroom Owner
I learned to sew in high school out of personal necessity - a prom dress. I didn't sew much until years later to help furnish my family's home. I had always sewn personal projects...until now. This is how I got here:
After eleven years as a programmer then two as a corporate instructor, I helped my husband launch Audio/Video Environments, Inc. Early on, we specialized in home theaters and audio/video systems. I stepped away from the business to raise our two daughters. During that time, I subcontracted making home furnishings with another workroom. Since being established, AVE has grown to include home automation which includes automated drapes and shades, much to my delight! And that led to my own workroom, creating beautiful soft furnishings for others

Development
With so many options in the soft furnishings industry, one can't help but be continually learning, developing, and growing. Maintaining relationships with other workrooms and designers is important to the learning process. I do that by being active in the associations shown as well as participating in the community at the Curtains and Soft Furnishings Resource Library and attending webinars with Rowley Connects (previous to 2025) and The Workroom Channel.
I received my "Certified Window Treatment Specialist" designation in February of 2022
